Staging a home requires a lot of preparation and hard work. A home that is on the market will need all the help it can get to be sold as soon as possible. And today, we will be giving you the 10 things that you must clean that can help your home to be sold fast.
First, we’ll need to have the basic cleaning supplies that we can use for this task. These are:
- Baking soda
- All-purpose cleaner
- A sort of “scraper” that you can use to clean tight places and corners (like Scrigit scraper)
- Window cleaner
- Dusting wand
- A lot of rags
Now let’s start cleaning your house.
1. Clean your appliances
You can clean you microwave by first boiling some hot water to loosen those stains then use the all-purpose cleaner to wipe it clean. Your dishwasher can be cleaned by using vinegar and baking soda with toothbrush to get in all the cracks. You will also need to clean your refrigerator with the use of the all-purpose cleaner. And you can use baking soda, vinegar and a toothbrush to clean your oven glass and glass stove cook top.
2. Clean your cupboards, cabinets and drawers
Cleaning these items would make a potential buyer see your home as clean and well maintained. First, organize your cupboards and cabinets then wipe them off with an all-purpose cleaner and some rags.
3. Thorough cleaning of your windows, inside and out
Cleaning the flat surfaces of your windows will not be enough. Make sure you pay attention to the window sills and window tracks too. You can use vinegar and baking soda for this one. Then you can use the scraper to clean the window sills and tracks.
4. Clean the grout
A dirty grout is a very bad statement to have in your house. Check all the grouts in your house if there’s any stains or molds in it. Then clean them with the combination of baking soda, vinegar and your scraper.
5. Clean your carpets
This is one of the things that is present on almost every place within your house, hence carpets and rags needs to be cleaned and well maintained. You can do this by yourself or by hiring a professional carpet cleaner.
6. Clean your shower head
Shower heads can be dirty with mineral build up. This can be done by filling a freezer bag with a little vinegar and attaching it right to the shower head with a tie that you can use (like a hair tie or rubber band). Also giving your entire bathroom is essential too.
7. Cleaning your blinds and window treatments
These things are dirt magnets. They can easily get dirt and dust within days after cleaning. So, use your dusting wand to remove the dirt and dust from these things and make sure that they are clean before a potential buyer comes in to check your house.
8. Cleaning the areas on where handprints can be found
We are talking about hand rails, doors light switches and walls where hands tend to go. Clean these things with a cleaner and a rag.
9. Clean the ceiling line
This is the place on where the walls and the ceiling meet. This is also the same place on where cobwebs and dust bunnies can be found too. Use your dusting wand to clean this area.
10. Cleaning your tables and chairs
Imagine your potential buyer trying to write an offer. Then the buyer will try to sit down then suddenly founds out that your chair and tables are grimy. That experience should not happen to anyone. Cleaning your tables and chairs and making sure that these are grime free should be done by using a rag, a cleaner and your scraper (for those tight places and corners).
