Based on our experience, closets are sometimes neglected when staging a home. Besides the fact that this is where we usually hide or keep our stuff while the home is being staged for showings or for open house, this is also where clutter used to hang out. But keep in mind that home buyers do also inspect closets too. So, today in Home Staging Pueblo Colorado, we’ll provide some ideas on how to stage your closet.
1. Apply white in your closet This may sound like a labor-intensive task but look on it as a chance to deep clean and get rid of the clutter that you do not need anymore. You can paint or use a shelf liner to apply white color in your closet. Yes, it will show off some bumps and dents, but it also reflects light and is easier to keep clean. And making your closet lighter makes the illusion that its more spacious. Don’t skip the ceiling while you are doing this. 2. Hang your items Look for some spiffy closet hangers at the discount store and replace the ones that do not match. This creates style on your closet. Aim for whatever is on the floor to be stored in hanging organizers made for shoes. 3. Compress the items that are used occasionally This creates more space to your closet. Use vacuum storage bags to store your quilts, extra sheets, pillows, sleeping bags and any other items that you only use a few times a year to compress them down to a few inches. Vacuum storage bags to leak after months on the shelf. If this happens then you have to simply attach a vacuum, suck out the air again and put them back on the shelf. 4. Gussy up Put the little things in matching or coordinated baskets and boxes, especially toiletries. This gives the signal to buyers that your you have a problem-free home you live in. 5. Opaque approach Use non transparent containers to store your items to lessen the visual clutter that the home buyer sees. Once again, one of the pillars of home staging is removing clutter, so less clutter makes your home more attractive to buyers. Cover cardboard boxes to make them uniform, even if they are in different sizes. 6. Use a mirror If you can find a place to add a mirror to your bedroom closet then do it. Even a small mirror will reflect light and confuse the eye about the boundaries of the closet. This also makes the illusion of making your closet more spacious. 7. Make scents Keep your closet dry and freshly scented. Reducing the number of stored items will definitely help the air to circulate properly within the closet. Remove items that would mold or give off musty scents on your cabinets and closets. You may add a layer of fragrance but fresh air is highly preferred. 8. Add some lights A small battery-operated motion sensitive light can do the trick and will make a statement in a closet or cabinet. This builds confidence because they look cleaner, bigger and aren’t hiding surprises. Call us or fill up our form for us to further stage your home.
