“You have to make sure that your house is clean once it is open for showings”. This is what every realtor and home stager would say to every homeowner that have their house on the market. Because sometimes (to most of the time), you’ll get notification from home buyers that they will be visiting your house on the last minute. Now, this does not mean that maintaining the cleanliness of your house will be a gargantuan task. By doing the simple tips that we will be providing, you should be able to maintain the cleanliness of your home easier.
Tip#1: Remove unwanted items
Yep, we are talking about the unneeded “clutter” in your house. Unneeded clutter is one of the turn-offs from home buyers. Either you put them away or sell them.
Tip#2: Rent a storage unit
This is where you can put large items that are still considered as unneeded clutter like large furniture or holiday decorations. Getting rid of large items like these not only makes your home a bit cleaner, but it also creates spaces that can make your home look bigger. And home buyers do like spacious homes 😊
Tip#3: Tidying up everyday
Make this as a day to day habit not only for you but for everybody as well. Ask everybody to pick up their belongings and putting them away. This may seem a tiny task to ask but it does help to lessen the efforts needed to maintain the cleanliness of your home.
Tip#4: Clean a little each day
It does sound a lot of work eh, but just think how much LESS time you’ll need to spend doing it on a weekend if you are doing these small cleaning tasks each day. Small tasks like washing dishes and sweeping the kitchen floor can be done daily. And other tasks like dusting and mopping can be done every few days.
Tip#5: Stay on top of laundry
We do understand that laundry is one of the household tasks that takes a lot of time for it to be fully finished. Most of the time, laundry can be found all over the house. Dirty laundry can be seen in rooms and floors while the clean ones can be found in a corner waiting to be folded. It is unattractive for buyers to see laundry in a house. And doing this task moments before the home buyers comes in will not be enough.
The best way to prevent these is to stay on top of laundry. Once laundry is clean, fold or hang it right away. If you have a large family, doing a load each day would help. Doing laundry and seeing it all the way through puts your laundry in order.
Tip#6: Hire a professional cleaner
Professional cleaners do make wonders on your house by rejuvenating the areas that seems to be hopeless and beyond cleaning. Letting professional cleaners clean the house first and for you to maintain its level of cleanliness will help a lot to improving the look and feel of your house. This makes a wise investment for sellers and can also improve the value of your home.
